Chris + Josie: Bride Wears Grandmother's Almost 70-year-old Wedding Dress
On a rainy afternoon in May, Chris and Josie were married. The couple exchanged vows in front of a vineyard, seated at a resort located in the rolling hills of Clarksville, Missouri. While the day would have been perfect enough with the backdrop of lush greenery, precious wedding details, and a beautiful bridal party, the additional sentiment of the bride wearing her grandmother’s wedding dress truly brought everything together.
Josie’s grandparents, who were married over 65 years prior, were both present to witness their granddaughter get married. Months earlier, Josie’s grandma was going through her belongings, she decided to place her dress in the discard pile. When Josie came over later and saw the dress, she just knew she had to make it part of her special day. After taking it to Kaye Nicole Couture, a bridal shop that specialized in creating custom gowns and refurbishing old ones, the delicate lace that had been damaged was repaired, and the dress was transformed into a more modern style.
A lesson for future brides: make sure to give grandma a call before you decide on a dress - you never know what treasures may be waiting for you in her closet. 😊
